About acupuncture
Restoring balance, gently
According to Yin-Yang theory, oriental medicine considers the human body a separate universe, maintained in balance by the flow of life-giving energy called “Qi.” Qi flows from the organs to the superficial tissues and joints through channels called meridians. If the flow of Qi is abnormal for any reason, the imbalance can surface in the form of symptoms.
Acupuncture addresses those symptoms by harmonizing the balance, with gentle insertion of needles at specific meridians and acupuncture points. It is commonly used for pain and stress relief, such as low back pain, shoulder stiffness and knee pain, as well as depression, insomnia and other emotional concerns.

Does acupuncture hurt?
With hair-thin needles, patients experience a brief ache or heaviness in the area being needled. Some points are more sensitive than others. By and large patients describe the sensations as fleeting and the treatment experience as deeply relaxing.

Are the needles safe?
Sterile disposable needles are used. They are used once and then disposed of immediately.

Absolutely not. Many patients come for regular treatments to achieve increased effectiveness and enjoyment in life. Acupuncture can also be a powerful preventative measure to keep patients healthy throughout the year.
